Medieval Landscapes

Here is a sneak peak at what the 4th graders have been working on- Medieval Landscapes with Clay Castles.  These projects are seriously awesome, I can't wait to post more pictures!!

Students are using Acrylic Paint to paint a Landscape.

Students made a Castle out of clay that will be glued onto their landscape!

3rd Grade- Maps of an Imaginary Place

Map of an Imaginary Place

For this project, students created a explorer's map or a treasure map of an imaginary place.  They included important parts of a map such as Landforms, a Map Key, Compass Rose, and a Title. 

After they drew their map with Sharpie marker, they made them look old by crumpling them up, painting them, and tearing the edges.  They kind of look and feel like leather now- it is Really neat!

3rd Gr. Colorful Chameleons

Colorful Chameleons

For this project, we studied the color wheel and discussed Primary and Secondary colors.  Students drew a chameleon and painted it using only the Primary colors which are red, yellow, and blue!  

We practiced an artist trick for mixing colors where you start with the lighter color and then mix in a little bit of the darker color until you get it just right.  This way of mixing paint will help save you time and paint!

Yellow + Red = Orange

Red + Blue = Purple

Yellow + Blue = Green

Did you know that Chameleon's do Not actually change the color of their skin based on their surroundings?  They change the color of their skin based on temperature and mood.  Crazy, huh?!

A second grader drew this adorable picture of me at my desk with all my key chains- so cute! 

1st Gr. Abstract Paintings

Abstract Paintings

This is the first part to a project where students painted two abstract paintings.  They will later select one to be cut up and used in a different artwork.  Students experimented using the paintbrush in different ways to make these Gorgeous paintings!  I am just in love with these!!

1st Gr. Texture Caterpillars

Textured Caterpillars

For our first project, we read the book "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle. Then students learned about caterpillars and how to use texture, pattern, and color in an artwork.  Each student created a piece of the caterpillar by coloring on top of textured plastic sheets, cutting out a circle, drawing and cutting out legs and then putting all of the pieces together to create one Huge class caterpillar!  (Each circle is 8" in diameter)

Awesome job 1st grade!

Tiny Picassos Art Classes

3rd, 4th, & 5th graders Wednesdays, September 17, 24, October 1, 8, from 3:45-5:15 p.m. in the Art Room (151) at Bailey Elementary School!

4 week session $85

Join Tiny Picassos as we explore sketching, drawing from observation, color, collage, positive and negative space, different techniques and mediums. All supplies included. Each student will receive a Tiny Picassos t-shirt.
